Freelancers like to have work to do, even if sometimes means long hours. So having many projects to choose from is considered by anybody working in this field a bless. But is it quite so?
When I started working as a freelancer, I used to read carefully every single project that I could bid on. But I also learnt that there may be shortcomings to this method of taking every project in particular and grill it thoroughly. I got tired after a few hours and quite disappointed that I did not manage to find the right project for me. Sometimes the payment was not so good, other times, the project details left me puzzled, so I thought that I needed some filtering options so I could get my hands on those jobs that were fit for me.
This was the main thing that I had in mind when I decided to introduce the Advanced search option into my site. When you have over 3000 projects to choose from, a little help will do you good. I collect these projects from GetAFreelancer and other job boards.
You can always filter your favorite projects by introducing some keywords that you think relevant, or a string. Also, if you are a newbie and you need some projects without so much competition, you can choose trial projects only (projects that beginners are the only ones allowed to bid on).
But I introduced other options as well. Now you can filter projects by country. Let’s say, you want to do business only with buyers coming from the United States. You will notice that I have a list with all the countries from where projects are being posted. To make the job easier for those aiming for countries with many projects listed, on the top of the list, I put the ‘Many projects’ category. Here you will find countries like United States, United Kingdom, India, Canada and Australia. This way, you will not have to search the list for them.
If, instead of aiming for landing jobs with overseas buyers, you search for something closer to home, or, if you simply want to search for projects from a certain country, you will also find a longer list in my Advanced search option. In the ‘Some projects’ category, I listed the countries alphabetically, so you can go directly to the country you are interested in.
I also introduced some filtering options that I think you will enjoy, as well. For instance, if your want the projects to be ordered by date, you can choose the ‘date’ category, under ’sort by’. You can also filter your wanted projects by relevance, or you can list them in an ascending or descending order, which way you see fit.
Finally, you can also manage how many projects will be listed per page (in case that the number of the projects resulted from your custom search is quite large). The default number I put is 15, but you can also choose 30 or 50 projects to be listed per page.
I believe that this feature will help you a great deal in your searches. I know that I needed that help when I first started working as a freelancer. Making the job of searching and finding the best projects easier became my priority and that was why I invented this system.
I wish you all good luck with your bidding and I hope that this tool I made will help you get where you want fast and easy.
